ARIA HUIZINGA (SHE/HER)

Aria is a nonprofit champion who is currently serving as one of the 2 Outreach Co-Chairs.  Since moving to the Des Moines metro 3 years ago, she has been actively involved with multiple organizations, including singing with the Des Moines Gay Men's Chorus, acting in shows at the Des Moines Playhouse, working backstage with Pyramid Theatre Company, and serving on the board for Lavender Legal Center.  Her goal is to bring as much awareness as possible to the intersections between identity and the arts.  She believes arts are crucial to the foundation of our community and are some of the most profound and powerful tools for acceptance and equality.

Aria's love of music started 16 years ago when she joined a choir and performed her first musical.  Since then, she has never stopped singing and dancing; from pursuing a musical degree from the University of South Dakota, the aforementioned choral and theatrical endeavors, to even becoming a drag queen (Tessa Tura).

Aria is ecstatic to help inspire more youth to pursue music and to create a musical safe haven for LGBTQ+ youth.
